Plantiful Health and Shooting Food

My friend Devin Ellsworth has an inspiring passion for food. Not that he wants to make you a new recipe for dinner, but that he knows food can change your life, and change the world. It is rewarding to listen to him talk about food, and his passion is contagious. He is trying to share this passion and knowledge with the world as the founder of Plantiful Health.

I was honored when Devin asked me to shoot some photos for plantifulhealth.com, as well as his forthcoming book. It was also a bit of a dream come true, since I have been looking for a reason to try out some food photography for some other reason than posting my dinner on Facebook.

We tried lots of different shots, but the most unusual images we ended up with - as far as the inkling portfolio goes - were these "pantry case studies" as I just decided to call them right now. I am used to looking for ways to work my body and my camera to capture the beauty of things in my environment. These photos required me to turn that model upside down - but I think the result it still beautiful.

Oats: I love to eat these for breakfast - just put some applesauce on them and eat them raw. Seriously, try it.

Whole Grain Bread: I really love bread.

Fruit: it doesn't get any better than fruit. And those blueberries...they just wandered onto the set from underneath that banana, so casually...
